Sometimes (as I've heard it explained) the US is so strict in it's immigration laws that other countries feel they are only responding in kind in regards to US applicants. I'm not fluent in Italian but I keep trying. Fortunately/unfortunately many people here speak English and want to practice it so I don't get to practice much some days...Thank you for your comments and sharing your story!Michelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13632952010466099984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2493948580241479509.post-23912757198307866422015-04-10T19:49:13.058+02:002015-04-10T19:49:13.058+02:00Thanks Robin! It's ...Thanks for sharing your story, Michele. It's a good one. Years ago I immigrated to Canada, lived there for two year to help my grandparents. The bureaucracy to make it happen was crazy making. When my husband and I crossed the border the guard looked at our papers and said, "you have two points. I have never seen anyone immigrate to our country with only two points." I suspect I got a point for each grandparent and got in based on the strength of a very strongly worded letter I wrote to the Canadian Consulate in San Francisco after being turned done several times. They purposely make it difficult, I think, to weed out the serious versus the whimsical applicants.

In your time there have you become fluent in Italian. So different from the French and Spanish I can speak. Those languages didn't help me much when I visited Italy.Claudiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09800662004605408982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2493948580241479509.post-63802125151088884822015-03-16T11:34:31.234+01:002015-03-16T11:34:31.234+01:00That is an amazing and inspiring story.....it was...That is an amazing and inspiring story.....it was just such a great thing to read this morning..Thank You so much for sharing that with us..Im so so happy for you....!Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09026109701609348319noreply@blogger.com
